Flower Spirit was one of the first to sense the charm and potential of this flower, and successfully grew it into a large flower using its unique cultivation technology. Its size can reach a diameter of 18.5cm. This flower is Gulliver's signature flower, working to improve brand value by voluntarily dividing it into six grades.

"Ranan prefers cold and low humidity.ShinshuThe environment is truly ideal. Also, it's important to take your time to grow it. If you quickly grow bigger, the flower will last a little worse," says President Shintaro. It also won the highest award in the category at the Floriard 2012, the International Horticultural Expo held once every 10 years in the Netherlands, and is one of the most popular flowers in the world.

Various challenges and efforts make shipments and long distance transportation possible year-round
"A longing for the future" nurturesShinshuThe pride of Alstromeria

Alstromeria is native to South America, mainly in Chile, and has undergone mating selection in the Netherlands and other areas. This flower is popular for its variety of colors and exotic appearance, and is also popular for arrangements. Ina City was Japan's first full-fledged cultivation area. This was the trigger in 1978 when a farmer was thinking about a shift from rice cultivation and a Dutch breeder. "The sunshine in winter and coolness in summer are similar to the origin, and breeders thought that good flowers would grow here," says Oda. After trial and error, such as building a house to protect against the rain and turning on a heating to protect against the cold, the flowers bloomed beautifully, and were highly rated, worth 3,000 yen per bottle at the time.

Shipping is now possible annually and orders from all over the country have increased, making transportation a challenge. "If you put it out far, it will tend to get bored when you line up. It will hold up poorly," says Sakai. Therefore, we developed a special wet vertical box, which lasts for more than two weeks. Recently, new varieties without any spots have been introduced, and the company continues to evolve further.

As Japan's number one production area, we are responsible and proud, and our division members are taking on 10 to 15 new varieties every year.

The world-leading corsage series born from countless combinations
Double-bloomed Turkish Egret, evolved through breeder's techniques

Turkish eustachi is native to the United States. When cultivation began in Chikuma City, which is currently the largest production area, it was simplicity that was unthinkable, with only single purple blooms, but Nakasone has added more color variations to create gorgeous double blooms and fringes. "Developing a variety that creates new colors and shapes through multiplication is a very laborious and time-consuming task. Last year, we combined about 200, but only four were successful. But it's also interesting to see unexpected things being born," he says.

The evolved turkey girae became popular and quickly transformed into a major variety. "What we're currently working on is neutral colors and tone-subtly colored colors that are highly requested by florists. If we can develop colors that aren't often found in other flowers, such as pale blue, the display itself will change. It's fun to think of new varieties while imagining the scene," he says, giving us a sense of further evolution.
